Railroading Merit Badge

Ages 11-17 • 25 participants • 9:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Price: $15.00 per scout and $9.00 per adult, excluding online ticket fees

The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is the perfect setting for boys and girls involved in scouting to earn badges in railroading, working with historic artifacts and model trains. All requirements are fulfilled in a single day.

Arrangements may also be made to ride the Strasburg Rail Road after the program concludes. Fees for the train ride are separate from the railroading badge fee with the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. You must make arrangements on your own to schedule a train ride. The train does not run January through mid February.

Workshops For Individual Scouts

The Railroading Merit Badge Workshop is offered 4 times per year.  In 2020, workshops will be held:

  • SOLD OUT!  February 22: Registration begins January 24 at 9:00 a.m.
  • CANCELLED. March 28: Registration begins February 28 at 9:00 a.m.
  • CANCELLED.  September 12: Registration begins August 14 at 9:00 a.m.
  • CANCELLED.  November 14: Registration begins October 16 at 9:00 a.m.

Space is limited to 25 scouts unless specified otherwise.  Scouts must be accompanied by an adult.

· Museum membership does not apply to the Railroading Merit Badge Workshop.
· We require adult chaperones for scouts at all times.
· Every effort is made to adhere to the schedule, so please arrive on time.
· Lunch is on your own.
· Scouts are asked to wear class “A” or “B” uniforms.
